Yes. the black crystal alr material is designed to reject ambient light from the sides and above, making it an excellent choice for living rooms and media rooms with moderate ambient light. for the best image quality, avoid placing strong light sources directly in front of the screen, as no front projection screen can completely eliminate direct frontal light.
Is the gallery evo lt2 black crystal alr screen compatible with ultra short throw (ust) projectors?
No. the gallery evo lt2 black crystal alr screen is designed exclusively for standard throw and long throw projectors. using a ust projector with this material will result in poor optical performance and uneven brightness. if you own a ust projector, we recommend choosing one of our dedicated ust alr screens, such as cbsp, kbsp, or lenticular ust.
Will the black crystal alr screen improve black levels?
Yes. the black crystal alr material is designed to significantly enhance perceived contrast and deepen black levels compared with a standard matte white screen, especially in rooms with ambient light. it delivers a more immersive viewing experience by reducing the impact of stray light while maintaining vivid colors and excellent shadow detail.
What is the difference between the gallery evo and the gallery series?
Both the gallery evo and gallery series use the same premium projection materials and deliver the same excellent image quality. the main difference lies in the frame design: gallery evo features an upgraded aluminum frame with improved rigidity, easier assembly, and better long-term screen flatness, while the gallery series uses the classic fixed-frame design, remaining an excellent choice for dedicated home theater installations.
What is the difference between grey crystal and black crystal alr screens?
Both materials are designed for long throw projectors, providing excellent ambient light rejection and high contrast. grey crystal offers a higher gain for a brighter image and improved 3d performance. in contrast, black crystal provides stronger ambient light rejection, deeper blacks, and higher perceived contrast, making it the preferred choice for bright living rooms and daytime viewing.
Is the gallery evo lt2 black crystal alr screen compatible with rgb triple laser projectors?
The gallery evo lt2 black crystal can be used with rgb triple-laser projectors, but it is generally not our first recommendation because black crystal alr material may make laser speckle more noticeable.
however, it may still be suitable if you frequently watch in a bright room, require strong ambient light rejection, prioritize deeper blacks and higher perceived contrast, and are not particularly sensitive to speckle. you may also consider a low-cost diy low-frequency vibration system, which some users have reported can reduce visible laser speckle by approximately 80%–90% when properly installed and adjusted. actual results may vary depending on the projector, screen size, viewing distance, and installation.

The Gallery Evo LT2 Black Crystal ALR screen is designed for standard-throw and long-throw projectors. For optimal brightness and image quality, we recommend using a projector rated at 1,800 ANSI lumens or higher.
Best suited for:

- Daytime viewing, provided no strong light shines directly onto the front of the screen
- Viewers who prioritize deeper blacks, enhanced perceived contrast, and effective ambient light rejection
Important compatibility notes:
- Not compatible with short-throw or ultra-short-throw (UST) projectors
